THE HERBALISER BAND

V januári 1995 Ollie Teeba a Jake Wherry alias The Herbaliser, beatmakingové duo založené v Twickenhame v juhozápadnom Londýne, vydali svoj debutový singel The Real Killer na britskom vydavateľstve Ninja Tune.
Dvojica bola hlboko ponorená do hip-hopu a intenzívne sa prehrabávali v zaprášených platniach a hľadali funky sample, soulové nahrávky a mali aj osobitnú záľubu v starých filmových soundtrackoch, ktoré dodali ich tvorbe naozaj osobitý zvuk.
Čoskoro vydali svoju prvú LP platňu Remedies a stali sa tak jedným z umelcov pod hlavičkou Ninja Tune, pričom rozširovali svoj zoznam spolupracovníkov o eklektických umelcov a dídžejov. Nasledujúci rok, keď nahrávali svoju druhú nahrávku Blow Your Headphones, rozšírili svoju produkciu o osemčlennú živú kapelu, ktorá debutovala v júni 1996 v George IV v Brixtone.
The Herbaliser Band ďalej koncertovali medzinárodne, a to s veľkým ohlasom pred rôznorodým publikom a počas nasledujúcich desaťročí sa stali pravidelnými účastníkmi na mnohých festivaloch venovaných elektronickej, tanečnej, dub a jazzovej hudbe po celom svete.
Spoločné producentské pôsobenie Ollieho Teeba a Jake Wherryho sa skončilo v roku 2020 no The Herbaliser Band po prestávke pokračuje v pôvodnom zložení Ralph Lamb (trúbka/flugelhorn), Andrew Ross (tenor/baritón saxofón), Micah Moody (bicie), Patrick Dawes (perkusie) s nováčikmi Jamesom Mortonom (alt Sax), Oliverom Parfittom (klávesy), Conorom Cotterillom (basa) a samozrejme aj DJ Olliem Teebom na gramofónoch.

Koncert je na státie na Nádvorí (outdoor) a koná sa za každého počasia.
V prípade dažďa si prineste pršiplášte.
Dáždniky nebudú na koncerte povolené.
Priamo na Nádvorí vás obslúži bar bistra Akademia.
Príchod si nenechávajte na poslednú chvíľu, kontrola cez jednu bránu bude chvíľu trvať.

THE HERBALISER BAND

Way back In January 1995, Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry AKA The Herbaliser, a samplebased beatmaking duo from Twickenham, South West London, released their debut 12” single ‘The Real Killer’ on UK label Ninja Tune.
The pair were deeply immersed in Hip Hop culture and heavily into digging around in dusty record bins looking for funky samples. As well as jazz and soul records, they had a particular taste in old movie soundtracks, which would become a particular characteristic of their production sound.
They soon followed up with their first LP, ‘Remedies’ Establishing themselves as one of the main features of the Ninja Tune crew, as they expanded their roster of eclectic artists and DJs. The following year, as they were recording their second full length release, ‘Blow Your Headphones’, they extended their output to include an 8 piece live band and debuted June 1996 at George IV in Brixton.
The Herbaliser Band continued on, touring internationally, to great reception, from diverse audiences and would become regulars at a multitude of electronic, dance, dub and jazz festivals, worldwide, for the next 2 decades or so.
Finally, in 2020, the relationship, of the production duo that this all began with, came to a conclusion. Now, in 2024, The Herbaliser Band have reformed with original members Ralph Lamb (trumpet/flugelhorn), Andrew Ross (tenor/baritone saxflute), (Micah Moody (drums), Patrick Dawes (percussion) with James Morton (Alto Sax), Oliver Parfitt (keyboards), Conor Cotterill (bass) and of course DJ Ollie Teeba on the turntables.

INFORMATION FOR VISITORS:

The concert is for standing only in the Nádvorie (Courtyard) place which is outdoors and takes place whatever the weather.
In case of rain, please bring raincoats.
Umbrellas will not be allowed at the concert.
The bar of the Akademia bistro will serve you directly at Nádvorie.
Don’t leave your arrival to the last minute, checking in through one gate will take a while.
